Electric Locking Hardware — Professional Access Control for Every Door
Electric locking is the foundation of any access control system. Whether you're securing a single entry door in a small office, managing multi-door access across a commercial building, or integrating door control with an intercom or alarm system, the right locking hardware determines how effective and reliable your whole system is.
We stock a comprehensive range of electric locking products for professional security installers, electricians and building managers — all available for direct purchase with Australian stock and free shipping on orders over $500.
Types of electric locking hardware:
Magnetic Locks (Maglocks) — Electromagnetic locks that hold a door closed via a powerful magnetic bond between the lock body and armature plate. No mechanical parts to wear out. Available in 280kg, 400kg and 600kg holding force ratings for light residential through to heavy commercial doors. Fail-safe (power off = door opens) for fire egress compliance.
Electric Strikes — Replace the standard door strike plate and allow a door latch to be released electrically while the lock body itself remains on the door. More discreet than a maglock and compatible with most standard door hardware. Available in fail-safe and fail-secure configurations depending on your security and egress requirements.
Electric Bolt Locks — Surface-mounted or mortice electric bolts for gates, sliding doors and applications where a maglock or strike isn't practical. High holding force with positive locking engagement confirmation.
Door Controllers & Access Boards — The intelligence behind your electric locking system. Controllers manage the inputs (keypads, card readers, intercoms, REX buttons) and outputs (lock release signals) for single and multi-door installations. Compatible with Wiegand, RS485 and IP-based readers.
Request-to-Exit (REX) Buttons & Sensors — Required on every access-controlled door for safe egress. Surface-mount push buttons, flush-mount plates, and passive infrared REX sensors for hands-free exit. Tamper-resistant options available for high-security applications.
Power Supplies — Dedicated access control power supplies with battery backup capability. Ensures your locking hardware stays operational during power outages — critical for fire egress compliance on maglock installations.
Accessories — Door closers, armature plates, Z-brackets, L-brackets, spacers and mounting hardware to complete any electric locking installation.
Fail-Safe vs Fail-Secure — Which Do You Need?
This is the most common question on any electric locking job. The answer depends on the door's role in your building:
Fail-Safe (power off = door unlocks): Required on any door that forms part of a fire egress path. In a power outage or fire alarm event, the door releases automatically so people can exit freely. Maglocks are inherently fail-safe.
